I take it that a different referee will ref the SFC replay or am I wrong?

It will be a different ref. I'd say Coldrick is odds on for this one.

meathdaily-not sure what the squareroot of diddly is and I'm pretty sure you don't either. Your comments suggest that thelutch touched a nerve!. He is no better than 5-6 refs inside the county and is capable of making a poor decision like all of us (and that may be more to do with his lack of playing experience). Contary to popular belief I think the top 5-6+ refs in the county are quite good and I would be happy with any of them as most games are won and lost by poor decisions/skills of players. I have to admit that there are guys given whistles who would be better outside the fence or indeed at home. The problems with refs these days are primarily related to certs being given to guys who have little experience of playing football and theory will never match practice. On the refs side there are folk out there who think that the ref is poor if he does not give their team all the decisions.

It was great to see some direct play / balls kicked long or out wide at times yesterday. There is only so much hand passing (and what some knockers now call our game ... handball) that even I can take. If they leave the rules as is, I just hope the traditionalists stick to their guns and keep playing more of the kick and catch game. If the majority of teams start to adopt a system which is over reliant on the hand pass, well then a rule change should be made for the good of the game. While maintaining possession is very important, kick passing and high fielding (not just scoring) are the primary skills of the game. An alternative system of play which diminishes same (overuse of the hand pass) lowers the overall standard or quality of gaelic football and sort of brings the game into disrepute. It isn't really keeping in the spirit of the game (even if perfectly within the rules) and is been used by lesser teams/players to compensate for skill shortcomings. Puke football should be outlawed and changing or restricting the hand pass rule would eradicate quite an amount of it at source.

Yeah Coldrick could be the ref for the replay but some people on this forum were saying he couldn't be selected as the ref for last Sunday because he is from the Blackhall Gaels parish i.e. Batterstown/Kilcoon.
Excuse my lack of local knowledge but why would that be an issue?

It is just because he is from a neighbouring parish and could know a lot of the lads playing personally.

Probably wouldn't be a factor anyway because he's a good honest ref, but it's just the principal of it.
