Show Big Joe support

As per some of my comments on other topics, i am very frustrated at how the Meath/Louth game seems to have turned into a hate campaign against Joe Sheridan. I feel that we as a county have had enough of all the bad stuff being said about him and all the silly name calling and thats why I started this topic just to show Joe that all of Meath is still behind him. I hope that Joe is wise enough to let all the bad hype fly over his head. He is a great footballer, I wish him and all the team the best of luck on sunday and I hope Joe goes out there, head held high and does what he does best... C'MON THE ROYALS...

I think the problem with Joe against Louth is that he tryed too much at one time and his handling seemed to be way off ... but on the other hand you can compensate for this with his magnificent showing against Dublin ... I think Meath overall just played terrible against Louth and Joe's mistakes just were highlighted as a result ... but i've no doubt if given a chance to make amends against Kildare Joe will have no problem sticking a few in Shane McCormacks net!

I totally agree - very unfair on Joe who is a class act, have always thought of him as a great player! Joe wont let all this bother him against us on sun. I suppose in a way the whole situation is similar to Thierry and how he got the blame for the officials mistake. Louth will clutch at this for decades to come and Joe or Meath do not deserve this. Should be a very close game sunday and i hope the leinster final incident isnt a factor in what has the makings of being a great game! Kildare by 1

Not only is Joe a great player but he plays the ball every time. He is also a very nice lad as anyone who knows him will testify to. He won't be good every day no more than anyone else but even on a bad day he is likely to do something extraordinary. Lets give him a rousing cheer every time he is on the ball because we can expect bad vibes from the other three counties on the day. Lets make it the Joe show.

know joe a long time now and he is an absolute gent and thankfully he is very laid back and wont let this stuff bother him too much. Looking forward to him grabbing a couple of majors on sunday.

Hopefully it's water off a ducks back.
I'd expect him to be strong enough mentally tho. He's vice captain & one of the main leaders in the panel & one of those guys who won't dwell on something like that for too long.
Apart from a below par game v Louth, he's having a great year, I fully expect this to continue on Sunday!

Best oc luck jobo.

Joe is a class act and I have know doubt whatsoever that he will be back to his usual self again on Sunday to prove all the critics wrong.

I've always liked Joe as a player and I genuinely hope there's no booing nonsense from any members of the Kildare gaels on Sunday. Although it could probably be likely to come from some rebel county fans if they stick around, given their love for all things Meath GAA!

His half volleyed point against Westmeath in the lashing rain in Mullingar last year will always live fondly in the memory, though I hope I don't see anything of a similar vein on Sunday!

lilywhite,

Thierry Henry cheated, he deliberately used his hand to control the ball an incident the match referee failed to see at the time. Joe Sheridan on the other hand cheated twice, firstly he dived into the Louth goalmouth and secondly he threw the ball into the open net. The referee fell (excuse the pun)for the dive as he stated he blew his whistle for to award a penalty but then allowed an advantage. Just two of many wrong calls made by the referee in the dying seconds of the game. Allowing the goal to stand was however a major major injustice a very grave and extremely unjust act when you consider the repercussions involved.

Diving (or simulation as it is commonly known) to feign being fouled in ones quest of obtain an unfair advantage is again cheating and should be frowned upon. Likewise to throw the ball into the net (goals) when you're obviously fully aware it's not permitted is also cheating.

With regard to your comment "Louth will clutch at this for decades to come and Joe or Meath do not deserve this" put yourself in the position of the Louth GAA the county team and the county's many football enthusiasts, imagine the significance of winning a Leinster SFC title your first in 53 years and now imagine that been stolen from you in the last seconds of a Leinster final by couple of what I can only describe as unscrupulous individuals.

If what happened to Louth had happened to Kildare would you view things the same way as you're viewing them now ?. You don't need to answer that lilywhite because I like most others know exactly what your answer would be.

Seriously man, just let it go.
To suggest that what Sheridan did was on a similar level to Henry is bordering on idiocy, and as for throwing it into the net, let's just ignore the fact he was trying to kick it shall we? Makes ignorance and terrible arguements all the easier.

Firstly there is nothing wrong with diving at a loose ball, its called determination, any intercounty player who would not dive for the line in the last minute of a final is not worth their place, joe tried to play the ball and missed it with his feet this is 100% obvious and he was pushed, not by a louth man but by peader byrne, thats the push joe felt and assumed is was a louth man

Anyone else sense a touch of jealousy towards joe, many counties would love to have this man in their line up, a truley skillfull player, big target man and a natural leader, ive yet to see anyone succesfully rob big joe of the ball in championship 2010 he has power pace and precision,

there no show like a joe show

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

well JP ROONEY dived and was caught so does that mean he cheated? That means Louth are cheats so why should the cheats of Louth get a replay?

Things happen in football like this ...
In 2007 Meath should of been offered a replay from Dublin if Louth were to get one
1)Graham Geraghty scored a legigtimate goal which was disallowed
2)Alan Brogan was in the square when he scored a goal

You've just got to take it on the chin and move on plus its only a game of football no-body died!

Why on earth anyone would respond to BallsMcQ is beyond me, il say no more on the issue so don't waste your time BallsMcQ.

Joe is a big lad who's been playing championship football since 2004 so id be very disappointed if all this nonsense did get to him but in saying that i reckon there won't be a bother on him come sunday.

Lads I have been replying and complaining about the comments from Louth fans since the Leinster Final but it really is not worth it anymore. 8 men lost their lives in a car crash in Donegal around the same time, and all Balls can do is write out the rule book and give out about Meath any chance he gets, I love football as much as the next person but it is not worth that considering tragedies that happen outside the game and of greater importance, beyond unbelievable.
