Well done Leitrim.Few,bar the team management and the panel gave Leitrim any chance. This was a brilliant display and will do wonders for the confidence of the team. It certainly has lifted the spirits of the supporters Looking forward to seeing a full stand for the visit of Cork in in Carrick next Sunday . It is nice to read the comments from our genuine Roscommon posters.

Replying To Square_B:  "I think that says more about where Mayo is at, at the moment. You surely see why Leitrim folk were fearing for the worst today?"
Ah Come on Square D why can't you say something positive about this very young team who ran themselves into the ground with a gusty display. Well done to the management too.Considering all the negative publicity and public ridicule over the last few weeks, they had a very motivated well drilled team on the pitch.

I am very disappointed to read this post. Firstly, who in life never made a mistake? Secondly, If you look at his career with Leitrim in the round ,his attitude and commitment has been excellent. Thirdly, he is nsck and obviously playing well. We should be getting behind these lads and not signalling out anyone of them for criticism like this. Fair enough to debate the team selection who should be on etc.

Replying To ThePowerhouse:  "Everything is grand. Nothing to see here. Don't be negative no matter what. Don't say it as it is. Ignore the evidence at all costs. We'll still wear our silly hats and sure maybe Willie will take a picture and we'll get into the observer. Stevie Wonder could see this crisis was on its way. It's been coming for 15 years. Long before Poacher, Andy Moran etc. were on the scene. Cue the usual nonsense and excuses about population and emigration. Blah blah blah. No, I'm not ignoring the fact that last years team is virtually gone. Has anyone from the County board bothered to ask them the real reasons? They won't because they won't like the answers. Fermanagh has a population of 64k. Let's be generous and say at least 25k are from a unionist background and have no input to the GAA. It's fair to say they have outperformed us for the last 20 years. So too Sligo. Sligo Town is a wasteland for the Gaa. Take out the town and their population is virtually the same as us. The real reason this has happened is because of how the various county boards have run things for the last 15/20 years. If you really want to see change then stop going and giving them your hard earned money. Stop supporting them financially and demand complete reform and restructuring. It's an absolute insult to us at this stage."
Now Mr Powerhouse isn't this a wonderful suggestion stop Supporting tge Couny Board financially. What about the teams that are out this week U20's U17's? /hurlers. Do you think this is funded from thin air? It is a really difficult situation and genuine supporters are saddened. If you have all the answers why didn't you put yourself forward to take one of the vacant positions up for grabs? They had to beg the former secretary to return. Whinging and moaning is the norm with you and others on this site. However I will call you out.Calling for a financial boycott on the weekend of the Quid Games is sad beyond belief and pure nonsense, not to say irresponsible.

Replying To Square_B:  "You wouldn't have been saying all that about Moran had we lost the game on Sunday. All I care about is what's best for Leitrim football and come the end of this season, whatever happens, it would be best for Andy to move on for reasons I have posted about in previous posts. I would hope Graham steps in and that was the reason for him coming on board (i.e. job in 2025). I'd be suprised if it wasn't. We disagree on where Leitrim should be 3 years into this project.... he inherited a team that was good enough for promotion. Anyhow, for the moment I'll be taking each game as they come, what happened on Sunday was down to the team and a bit of luck, not necessarily the lads on the line."
Poor old begrudger, I was waiting to see when you would appear again. I guess the penalty converted ruined your post.

Replying To CTGAA10:  "I'm surprised by the attitude of Tomas o Shea.is he doubting the Sligo players and medics?if it was Kerry who were going out without 10 or 12 of their starting 15 due to covid, would he be the same..if this happens one of the major counties a couple of days before their game,it will be a different story.."
Agree. Very disappointed by Thomas O Shea's comments. In fact they are outrageous.

Replying To blueskies:  "Absolutely Incredible stuff. I am still in shock, I said during the week that we needed an angry performance and that is exactly what it was. No one gave us a chance, Sean Cavanagh on the Sunday Game last week crossed a line when he said "Dublin will need to fix that for Donegal" Total disregard to Cavan. But also thank you very much because you added fuel to that anger that we saw today. All across that team are ulster under 21 winners and we deserved more respect than that. Tactically Mickey got it spot on. Donegal were rattled especially in the second half, we just kept tracking their runners that have done so much damage in previous meetings. I actually think we should have won by a lot more to be honest with you. For the next day all I can say is keep writing us off please."
Congratulations Cavan what a wonderful display of skill, teamwork and courage. Cavan was unlucky with two dubious black cards and near misses for scores. The whole country salutes this brilliant display.

I doubt if you have the good of Leitrim football at heart. Thankfully, and against the odds, we have a reasonably talented bunch of players for the first time in a long long time. Under the current management they have made substantial progress and their is cause for hope. Surely it makes sense for the current management to continue the journey.

Heading the report by Frank Brady in todays Leitrim Observer it is clear: Leitrim are taking on a New Year All Stars with several recent imports of all Ireland winners and all stars. There seems to be no available of resources to attract a panel that can topple Leitrim. This is the year NY plan to create history make it a memorable one for Larry McCarthy. This is a tough one for Leitrim and many supporters are very nervous about it. However I believe they will rise to the occasion . Come on Leitrim.

Replying To lugdrum:  "He was the one left inside and I am not having a go at him. I should have clarified by saying I'd have Ryan inside instead but Roirdan would be a starter as he's a very hard working player and tracks his man where ever he goes. I just don't think he has that gink or dummy that Ryan has which brings others into play. I am not a poster that criticise's players I have the upmost respect for the sacrifices these young men make"
I am glad you clarified that Your original post did seem very critical. Anyway , let's move on and get a big turnout for Sunday at 1PM.

Replying To leitrimabu1:  "While I agree with most of your analysis I think you are being unfair to Diarmaid . He did little wrong yesterday as the lads moved into space. That has been the problem with the kick outs , no movement. Contrast that with the Louth keeper who had few options as the game progressed due to Leitrim pushing up. We wobbled a bit late on but those mistakes can be corrected . The key to our success against Down will be the forwards and with Dean McGovern(swollen knee) and Shane Quinn back it will make for a great contest. The return of Mark Plunkett, the continuing improvement in Donal Wrynn, Keith Keegan's impressive stint at midfield and our defence getting better is evidence of our progress. Down's mindset will will be to give us no respect ,they know little about us so going in as underdogs will keep our lads balanced. It was noticeable post match in Louth that there was no celebration from the players just a real satisfaction at a job well done and a steely determination to build on what was an important victory over a team who like us were fighting for survival. We are still in there and there will be no fear of Down among this talented squad who know what is at stake ."
Well said.Lets get behind the team. They have plenty of talent and the age profile is very young. It is by far the best group of players we have had in twenty years. They are making progress and the management is doing well .Keep at it lads

Replying To lecture250:  "What a performance in Ballinamore this evening, Paul Honeyman put in a performance that I have never witnessed at underage, well done Andy Moran for allowing Barry McNulty and Jack Foley play. This is a great confidence boost for Leitrim football."
Just home from the game.I agree the performance by Paul Honeyman was out of this world on his home turf. It is hard to believe that he has another 2 years at U20. Barry McNulty was outstanding too.He is up there with the best. Well done to Andy for playing himself and Jack Foley. The pressure for the Sligo game on Sunday is off , but this win will help. We are blessed to have Andy Moran at the helm of Leitrim football. His positivity is infectious and he is surrounding himself with top class coaches. The scenes at the end of the game were wonderful and it shows how much football means to the people of Leitrim.

Replying To leitrimman1994:  "Great response from the lads today to come back from 8 points down , Tom prior excellent when he came on and in my opinion should be starting in the corner for New York . Sligo are that bit more conditioned than us and probably deserved the win . Andy wasn't happen for the full time whistle to be blown early , but I couldn't see us working a goal at that late stage . I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say this , but in my opinion Keith Beirne let us down today . It's plain to be seen that when he's really needed he'll shy away . In the last two county finals and today , when the team really needed him to step up and supply the scores , he wasn't there . All well and good kicking points for fun when it doesn't matter , big time players will step up and kick them in the vital moments of the game…."
You should apologise for saying Keith Beirne let us down yesterday. By his own high standard he wasn't at his best.Never the less he made a huge contribution not just with scores but also with assists. Without Keith Beirne we would never have got as close to Division 3 as we did. He is a fantastic player, a great role model for our youth and I think I speak for 99.9 % of Leitim supporters when I say we are proud of him.

I see Leitrim minors (u17) defeated London in the Tier 3 All Ireland Preminary Quarter Finals. Does anyone know more about this competition, who are the teams involved and results to date. Anyway well done Leitrim, following an excellent performance but 1pt defeat by Sligo in the Connacht Shield final.
