some times the truth is ridiculous.

hurling in cavan will not develop under the county board. but it is not entirely the county boards fault either as players or so called players train and play when they see fit...im taking nothing away from the lads who are at traning and games every week. heres what i suggest, although i will probably get slated!! 1) bring in someone from down south as an underage developer...no offense to people from within the county doing it but in comparison to someone from cork, limerick, waterford or tipperary its a much better appointment.2) it seems to be only very few clubs that contribute with teams... look at the size of cavan town between the gaels, drumalee and killygarry...surely they can form a team of youngsters!!look at cootehill..the likes of them, kill and say drung should be able to make up a team as should virginia with ramor, cuchulainns and killinkere. the game is not being promoted enough...in schools and definitely in clubs.if the county board do decide to do away with the senior team they should enforce that clubs in cavan or towns HAVE TO develop underage hurling teams. who knows 5-10 years down the line what we will have developed...look at dublin???

There was hurling in the Town 30 years ago when the Gaels won the first ever county Hurling Championship. But that team was made up of gaurds and army guys who were stationed in Cavan Town from Hurling Counties. Very few locals took the game up and apart from the odd Community games teams there was NO intrest from locals.. That was 30 years ago and there still no interest, No work done at underage level..Same as football really.. We expect things to happen without the groundwork..We have put no effort in Minor football either in 30 years and we got nothing to show there either..

cavan rebel re...facts are important 10 of the napiarsaigh cship team played against cavan, cavans score was 5 goals and 8 points napiarsaigh 2 goals and 23 points,i seen you mentioned john hunt he did good work in cavan in 8 or 9 months.its just a pity that he did not have support from the county board .his training session attendance averaged 19 or 20 he bought discipline to the system its just a pity we did not hold him

quite a lot of commas and again with the caps

look I know you do nothing because people like you who whinge and moan generally don't contribute to the work

I may well know less about Cavan football than hurling as you say but at least i help out and try to make a wee difference, it's actually way more rewarding than whinging you'll find!

to setanta
as far as i recall Na Piarsaigh team was made up of the clubs junior a & b teams with only a handful of seniors and not the 10 you mention! any way thats not the point as you mention its the lack of support within the county for hurling and the dislike of outsiders by a handfull of people trying to run things their way .i have seen first hand the great work by a handfull of people in the few hurling areas within Cavan but without proper guideance and support from the top. Things have to be done right from the start with kids and shown the basics right and to keep going all year with skills

Oh Richj you really need to calm down, still with hurler40 backing you up, it's no wonder you're angry.

I think you'll find I support coaching and wod working through the clubs to improve things. Knocking the County board, the Manager, the players and coaches as you do with you caps locked SHOUTING is deplorable. Your little cheer leader hurler sees only one meaning for the word rewarding so he needs to deal with that little issue(will he understand this point, i doubt it)

it's funny that you don't think I am from Cavan, is is because I am not constantly whinging like you, now does that say a lot about you or am I the one out of line.

Guess I am off the christmass card list. but because of the season that's in it I wish you calmness and the gift of patience.

Reading the hoganstand it looks like there is a hurling management team so now we need the hurlers to turn up. Good luck to them.

Hope they do well. PJ is a good coach, found by the(now defunct) hurling board. Pity they didn't keep Brendan Nelligan in the group.

No question about the new trainer managers ability as a trainer sure he cannot go wrong now that he has P.Halpen and P.McDonald beside him and I expect now everyone will be very excited about this that we will have a very strong panel of hurlers for this year. It will be nice to see over twenty turn up for training night after night instead of 7 or 8 as well. Here's to the future of hurling. Now what we need is to get an un16/minor team going as well now that would be progress .???

why not see if you can be used as one of the five options or maybe see if you can register with one of the clubs. Give the office a call and I am sure they will direct you.
