New Cork hurling boss Ben O’Connor has announced a 36-man panel ahead of Sunday’s Allianz Hurling league opening defence against Waterford at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh.
The squad is notable for the absence of big names such as Jack O’Connor and Conor Lehane as well as Luke Meade, Darragh Flynn, Daniel Hogan, Jack Cahalane and Robbie Cotter, while Cathal McCarthy wasn’t considered due to an ACL injury and Patrick Horgan has retired.
St Finbarr’s have the highest representation of any club with five players – Damien Cahalane, Brian Hayes, Ethan Twomey, Ben Cunningham and William Buckley.
“From day one, any fella that was asked in at the start, and we started with 47 and have it cut now, it’s an open policy,” O’Connor stressed when speaking to the media on Monday night.
