The first county senior football champions of the year were crowned last weekend.
While many counties have yet to start their club championships, the Kilkenny SFC has already been completed. A month later than planned, the county football decider took place at UMPC Nowlan Park last Friday evening and resulted in a 3-7 to 1-9 victory for Mullinavat over Thomastown.
The ‘Vat scored two late goals to retain their title and win their sixth in seven years. They now face a long wait to the start of the Leinster club IFC in October as the decks are cleared for hurling action over the next few months on Noreside.
