Tyrone county board chairman Michael Kerr says he’s against calls for GAA action to resume in Northern Ireland ahead of the Republic of Ireland.

Calls for a return to Gaelic games in the north ahead of the Republic have been led most notably by former Armagh star Oisin McConville in recent weeks.

Speaking to BBC Northern Ireland, Kerr backed the stance of Ulster GAA chief Brian McAvoy, who last month ruled out any chance of divergence.

"It's a 32-county organisation and it must stay united," he stated.

"The undertaking was given by those at the top, when the north wasn't coming as quick as the south last year, that they wouldn't move until we were ready to move.

"So it would be disingenuous of us if we did something different this year."
