It was with great sadness that St. Loman's club members learned of John's passing on May 10th. A native of Scotland, John was a well-known figure in Mullingar and beyond through his roles as President of the Midland Gateway Chamber and a member of Mullingar Chamber of Commerce.

He was a familiar face in St. Loman's where he managed the clubhouse bar and function room with the height of professionalism. He always greeted everyone with a smile and a chat.

Paying tribute to John, Mullingar Chamber member Una D'Arcy said: "John's first love was St. Mirren, but since coming to Mullingar he just loved St. Loman's too. He followed them and celebrated all their wins. He even persuaded us in for their table quizzes. St. Loman's has lost one of their biggest fans."
