Thady passed away at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Mullingar on August 4 - the day of his 81st birthday. He lived in Ballynacargy all his life, moving from the family homestead in Ballysallagh to Harbour Street where he and his wife of 53 years, Vera, reared a family of six. A skilled builder and tradesman, he played football for Ballynacargy in his younger years and later served as a selector.
He was always there to support Ballynacargy from the sideline and took pride in their victories, particularly when his sons or grandchildren were involved. Indeed, his family have been outstanding servants to the club down through the years. It was entirely fitting that Thady's coffin was draped in the Bal' colours and that members and players provided a guard of honour as his remains made the final journey to the Church of the Nativity for his Funeral Mass.
