The death took place on August 11 of Matt Weir, Benison. Aged 93, he was a Ringtown hurler in his youth and won a minor championship with the club in 1939. Matt maintained a great interest in the game thereafter, with the Ringtown club providing a guard of honour on the evening of his removal to St. Mary's Church in Collinstown.
