Patrick 'Pat' McManus of Drinmore House, Rathconnell, Mullingar died on November 10th, 2016. Pat was a native of Tubber in Offaly, where he was a good enough footballer to earn selection on the Offaly senior team prior to emigrating to the US. He purchased Drimnagh House upon returning home and soon broke into The Downs' gaelic football team. In 1970, Pat registered 1-1 as Moate were beaten by 1-15 to 0-12 in a replayed Westmeath SFC final.
