The body of 28-year-old Damien Donoghue, Main Street, Tyrrellspass, was recovered from the River Shannon on Thursday evening, August 18th, 2016. Living in Mullingar, Damien had been a popular member of the GAA club in his native Tyrrellspass for many years. He represented the club at all grades from juvenile through to minor and U21, and was on the panel that won the Westmeath SFC in 2007, when Mullingar Shamrocks provided the opposition in the final. Guards of Honour were provided by Tyrrellspass GAA Club and Bloomfield House Hotel, where Damien worked up until his tragic death.
