Frankie Dolan has withdrawn from the process to become the new Longford senior football manager.

The former Roscommon forward had been among the candidates considered for the vacancy following Mike Solan’s departure in August.

Dolan confirmed his decision after speaking with Longford county board chairman Derek Fahy earlier this week.

“After careful consideration, I spoke with the Chairman of Longford County Board earlier this week and have decided that I won’t be going forward for the role,” Dolan said on social media.

Dolan recently managed Abbeylara and was also part of Oisin McConville’s Wicklow backroom team that guided the county to Tailteann Cup success this year.

Longford are now continuing their search for a successor to Solan, who guided the county to promotion from Division 4 before stepping down and subsequently taking over as Offaly manager.
