Donegal maintained their 100% record in Division 1 of the Allianz Football League by holding off Armagh's late charge for a 1-20 to 0-19 win at the BOX-IT Athletic Grounds this afternoon.

Gavin Mulreany saved a late penalty from Oisin Conaty for the Ulster champions, with full-back Brendan McCole keeping out the rebounded effort as Jim McGuinness’s side made it four wins from four in the top tier.

Oisin Gallen, Michael Langan and Mulreany (free) all sailed over two-pointers for the visitors in the first-half to help them lead by 0-13 to 0-9 at the interval.

Oisin O’Neill and Cian McConville hit early second-half points for Armagh that’d be wiped out by a Conor O’Donnell goal in the 44th minute and Conor McCahill’s point afterwards would put seven between the sides.

Kieran McGeeney’s men responded by hitting the next three points and erased singles by Jason McGee and O’Donnell with a Darragh McMullen two-pointer in the 58th minute.

Another Mulreany free from distance pushed the Tir Chonaill men’s lead back out to four, but Armagh weren’t going away as Ross McQuillan and O’Neill (free) raised white flags and, after McGee and Callum O’Neill traded points, the hosts would win a penalty which saw Mulreany parry Conaty’s effort in the closing stages to help Donegal cement the win.
