Doon to defend Limerick SHC crown against Na Piarsaigh

The scene is set for the Limerick SHC final on the weekend after next after Doon and Na Piarsaigh passed their semi-final tests with flying colours.

Holders Doon finished with a flourish to ease to a 2-21 to 0-14 victory over Ballybrown, who were appearing in their first semi-final in almost a decade. Derek McGrath’s men outscored their opponents by 2-9 to 0-1 in the last 20 minutes with Eddie Stokes and Kevin Maher scoring goals within three minutes of each other.

Ballybrown had led by 0-8 to 0-7 at half-time with Aidan O’Connor and Colin Coughlan leading the scoring charge, but they couldn’t live with the champions down the home stretch.

In the other semi-final, a brace of first half goals from Adrian Breen laid the foundations for Na Piarsaigh’s 2-20 to 1-17 victory over Kilmallock. Peter Casey also landed five first half points for the Caherdavin outfit who were out of sight by the interval when leading by 10 points.

Substitute Oisín Enright bagged a late consolation goal for a well-beaten Kilmallock side.
