
MTU Cork moved into the quarter-finals of the Fitzgibbon Cup with home advantage after a seeing off Garda College by 2-20 to 0-13 last night (Thursday).
Mikey Finn contributed 0-10 for the Cork students while Kilkenny’s Aaron McEvouy weighed in with 1-5 from open play as they booked their place in the last eight.
In Belfield, UCD scored an emphatic 5-18 to 1-17 win against TUS Midwest, with Dublin’s Dara Purcell netting early on for the victors and David Williams (2), Diarmaid Ó Dúlaing and David Lee also raising the umpire’s green flag.
SETU Waterford made their goals count in a 3-15 to 1-16 victory over ATU Galway at the SETU Arena, where John Groves, Cathal King and Éanna Guilfoyle bagged the winners’ goals.
Elsewhere, Denis Walsh’s 0-11 tally proved key as DCU came from behind to secure a 2-22 to 2-19 win over Maynooth University on Wednesday, meaning they now have a home quarter-final against UL to look forward to.
