Armagh goalkeeper Ethan Rafferty surged forward to score a superb point from play during the first-half of his side's All-Ireland SFC qualifers first round victory over Tyrone this afternoon.

With his opposite number Niall Morgan being a central figure in the evolution of the goalkeeper's role in gaelic football, Rafferty was heavily involved in the game, covering space and acting as a playmaker as well as keeping up his duties on the goal line as his side took a narrow 1-6 to 1-5 lead into the break.

The former outfield player split the posts again in the second-half and has now scored 2-24 for the Orchard County having been recalled by manager Kieran McGeeney as a netminder after a cruciate ligament injury forced him off the squad last season.
