Former Kerry football star Aidan O’Mahony has raised eyebrows by taking charge of the Dr Crokes senior hurlers.
The surprise appointment was announced by the Killarney club earlier this week. The five-time All-Ireland SFC winning defender works in Tralee as a garda, but lives in the Killarney area and has children involved with Dr Crokes. O’Mahony led MTU to a Sigerson Cup semi-final appearance last year and continues to line out for his home club, Rathmore.
His selectors will be Eoin Walsh, Eoin O’Shea, John Lenihan and Rob Ryan, with Ivan Hurley working as statistician.
