Limerick successfully defended their All-Ireland senior hurling title in stunning fashion at Croke Park this afternoon, crushing Cork by 16 points in the end.
A dominant first-half from the reigning All-Ireland champions provided the platform for them to go and notch the most points ever scored in an All-Ireland senior hurling final (3-32), breaking Cork (6-21, 1970) and Kilkenny's (3-30, 2008) equalling record.
The reaction to their performance was one of awe on Twitter:
Limerick are the All Ireland Senior Hurling Champions once again!! Well done on a fantastic performance @LimerickCLG! π #LuimneachAbú

A powerful display by @LimerickCLG - a team of all the talents. Exceptional. Patrick Horgan @OfficialCorkGAA proudly led his brave team but Limerick ruled supreme on a day when Cian Lynch once again underlined his class. Genius. https://t.co/JxYDcWUEFM

A simple reminder to anyone that intends to @ players from cork (especially from fake accounts).. no players goes out to intend to lose a game or not to play up to their potential. A tough day at the office but always proud to support the rebels. Up the lads

It’s a pity Casey had to go off injured because the battle for MOTM between him and Cian Lynch would have livened up this half #AllIrelandHurlingFinal
