Cahill set to become new Limerick football boss

Micheál Cahill is set to succeed Jimmy Lee as Limerick’s new senior football manager.

The Mungret clubman has been recommended for the role by the county’s managers appointments committee, with the proposal set to go before the county board for ratification next month.

Cahill is expected to take charge for two years, with an option for a third. His management team will be confirmed at a later date.

Lee stepped down earlier this month after criticising the county football board for what he described as a “disrespectful” lack of support. He subsequently backed Cahill for the position.

Cahill worked alongside Lee for the past two seasons, having previously been involved with Clare as part of their strength and conditioning team. He has also worked with the current MLB champions LA Dodgers and soccer academies in Houston and Dallas.
