Jim McGuinness could be set for a sensational return as Donegal senior football manager.
Multiple reports have surfaced today (Thursday) that the 2012 All-Ireland winning boss is in the mix for the Tir Chonaill County vacancy.
A selection committee was set up and tasked with finding a replacement for Aidan O’Rourke, who succeeded Paddy Carr in March, and confirmed his departure in late June following Donegal’s All-Ireland SFC exit to Tyrone.
The five-person committee have been keen to find a candidate ahead of the county club championship which begins this weekend and, according to reports, McGuinness is being considered for a return to the post he last held in 2014.
Following that year’s All-Ireland final defeat to Kerry, the Glenties man departed and went on to take on soccer roles at Celtic in Scotland as well as in China and America before becoming involved in GAA circles again having taken training sessions with Galway and Down.
