Tributes have been paid after the death of former Dublin manager Jim Gavin’s father.
Jim Gavin snr, better known as Jimmy, passed away peacefully yesterday (Sunday) in the Mater Private Hospital surrounded by his family.
He was a member of the Round Tower Clondalkin club and also won three county football championship titles with his native Cooraclare in Co Clare.
A statement from Round Tower Clondalkin GAA read: "It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Jim Gavin Snr.
"Jim was a long-standing supporter of Round Tower GAA Club and previously served as a juvenile mentor.
"He was a lead supporter of the Street Leagues, guiding his native Clonburris to 10 titles in a row.
"A proud Clare-man, he won three County Football titles with his home club Cooraclare.
"Jim's children Barry, Jim, Brian and Anne Marie have represented the club with distinction and continue to do so.
"We extend our condolences to Jim's wife Ann, children Barry, Jim, Brian, Anne Marie, and his extended family and friends.”
