Well-known St Rynagh’s dual player Sean Dolan is heading to the Ukrainian / Polish border on Thursday with a vanload of supplies to help Ukrainian refugees fleeing their country.

Sean is travelling with Olivia Feehan from just across the Shannon in Meelick-Eyrecourt to assist with the relief effort. The Cloghan man is currently on a year’s leave from his teaching post in Banagher College and intends staying in the area for as long as he’s needed. Olivia is staying for a fortnight.

Sean and Olivia have set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds to cover fuel for their minibus, food, medical supplies and possible accommodation. They also plan to donate €200 to each Ukrainian family they meet to help them get to where they need to go.

“We plan to fill a minibus full of supplies to be dropped at the refugee centre set up in Prezemysl, 30km from the Ukrainian border, and then use the minibus to help people get to where they need to go,” they said.

Sean and Olivia have raised over €20,000 so far and have set a target of €50,000. To donate, go to https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-and-transport-for-ukrainian-refugees
