Wexford midfielder Daithí Waters has announced his retirement from inter-county football.
The St Martin’s clubman made his debut for the Slaneysiders in 2009 against Kildare in the O’Byrne Cup and last summer saw him lining-out in his 13th season for his county when they defeated Wicklow in the Leinster SFC.
Throughout his career, he’d play for Wexford more than 100 times between league and championship combined.
Waters also played for the Model County’s hurlers back in 2015 when Liam Dunne was in charge of the team.
At club level, he would captain St Martin’s to a first ever Wexford senior football championship crown in 2013 and went on to taste senior hurling championship glory with them in 2017 and 2019.
The long-serving Daithí Waters has called time on his inter-county football career. All in Wexford GAA thank him for his dedication and service, and wish him all the best for the future. See https://t.co/9Y1R0IehLl

“Daithí was one of our most consistent and dependable players throughout his inter-county career, and to play more than 100 times for your county shows both great dedication and great talent,” he said,
“On behalf of all in Wexford GAA, I thank him sincerely for his service, and wish him all the best for the future.”
