Ger Brennan has run the rule over a staggering 164 players since becoming Dublin senior football manager last autumn.

Out of that, 54 have seen competitive action so far this year, with Hugh O’Sullivan, Charlie McMorrow and goal-scorer Joe Quigley being the latest to make their debuts in last Saturday night’s Allianz League win over Monaghan.

“I actually added it up from my notes — in total, 164 players have taken part in multiple training sessions and trial games since the start of November,” the St Vincent’s clubman explained in the Croke Park media room.

“That includes your core group from last year as well. We gave the new lads a couple of weeks each and gradually you just peel it back the whole time.

“So we are where we are now, we’ve got a good squad there, probably the guts of 40 now.

“We had the guts of 50 last week. There are no standout casualties given the work that the fellas put in over the last couple of weeks.

“The priority is to find more players.”
