Galway star Cathal Mannion says the Tribesmen know they face into their biggest challenge of the season so far when they take on Kilkenny in Sunday’s Leinster SHC final (4pm).

The Tribesmen head for Croke Park this weekend looking for a first Bob O'Keeffe Cup success since 2018’s triumph over the Cats, with the latter going for their sixth provincial success in-a-row.

Speaking to RTE Sport in the build up to the decider, Mannion, who made his 60th championship appearance last month against Wexford, said that they are preparing for it like it were any other game.

"Obviously Micheál (Donoghue, manager) and his team bring a lot of expertise to it and they demand a very high standard every day," said the Galway attacker.

"We didn't start as good as we wanted, but we got a reaction as far after that. We’re still only in a Leinster final which was our aim so we have to prepare as best we can.

"We’ll prepare like any other game, but we know it's going to be a bigger challenge than what we faced already this year.

"You know if you want to win any title at this level, you're not going to get it easy. Kilkenny are the standard bearers in Leinster for the last couple of years so it’s up to us train, get up to that level and see where it takes us."
