Galway football boss Padraic Joyce has added Raymond Galligan to his backroom team.

Video footage shared by Galway GAA on social media showed the former Cavan manager and goalkeeper arriving with the Tribesmen in Tralee for last Saturday’s Allianz League Division 1 clash with All-Ireland champions Kerry, which finished in a draw after the visitors staged a remarkable comeback.

Galligan confirmed his involvement with the Westerners on Allianz League Sunday last night. Making his punditry debut on RTÉ, he said: "It's minimal. I'm doing workshops and trying to add a small bit of value to the set-up."

He links up with fellow county-man Mickey Graham, who joined Galway as a coach last year. Graham was Cavan manager when Galligan captained the Breffnimen to their first Ulster SFC title in 23 years in 2020 when games were played behind closed doors due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Galligan also earned an All-Star that year.

He took over as Cavan manager from Graham in 2023 and spent two years at the helm before stepping down last July.
