Former Mayo senior selector Damien Mulligan has been confirmed as the new manager of Roscommon giants St Brigid’s.

The Crossmolina clubman succeeds Anthony Cunningham in the post following the latter’s decision to step down in the wake of their All-Ireland club SFC final defeat to Dingle last month.

Mulligan previously steered Belmullet to the 2021 Mayo SFC final, where they were defeated by Knockmore, and was also in charge of the club as they captured the intermediate championship title in 2018.

A selector for his county during Kevin McStay’s reign, Mulligan’s playing days saw him lining out in Crossmolina’s defence as the north Mayo club triumphed to All-Ireland club SFC glory back in 2001.

“St Brigid’s GAA Club are delighted to announce that Damien Mulligan will be taking up the role of our senior men’s manager for the year ahead. His backroom team and the management teams of our intermediate and junior teams will be announced in due course,” read a statement which was posted by the club on Thursday night.
