GAA clubs and facilities have received almost €97 million in grants from the Community Sports Facilities fund.

With €230 million in funding being allocated, the GAA’s share equates to over 40%. Soccer clubs and teams were the second biggest beneficiaries with over €41 million worth of funding, followed by €11.4 million for golf, almost €10 million for rugby, €6.5 million for tennis and €4 million for athletics.

A total of 1,996 separate grants covering 40 different sports were approved in what was the largest-ever funding announced for sports facilities.

The Community Sport Facilities Fund is the primary vehicle for government support for the development of sports and recreation facilities and the purchase of non-personal sports equipment throughout the country. The Programme for Government commits to continuing the programme and to prioritising investment in disadvantaged areas and groups that are currently underrepresented in terms of participation.
