Davy Burke wants to continue as Roscommon football manager for a third year.

The Kildare native made his intentions known after last Saturday’s All-Ireland SFC quarter-final defeat to Armagh. It came a week after a surprise preliminary quarter-final win over Tyrone proved the highlight of an otherwise disappointing season.

"Absolutely. How could you not want to work with Brian Stack and the likes of that? What a second-half performance by him,” Burke said in the Croke Park media room when asked about his future plans.

Meanwhile, Roscommon are on the lookout for a new ladies football manager after Ollie Lennon stepped down in the wake of last Sunday’s All-Ireland Intermediate Championship quarter-final loss to neighbours Leitrim.

The Pádraig Pearses clubman was at the centre of a major controversy last October when he accepted an offer to return as manager after he and his selectors Tom Lennon, Brian Lennon and John Kennedy were told their services were no longer required after a review was carried out by the county board without the Roscommon captain and vice-captain being consulted as part of the process.
