Meath GAA has confirmed that senior football Strength & Conditioning coach Eugene Eivers and coach Paul Garrigan will not be part of Colm O’Rourke’s backroom team next season.

Both Eivers and Garrigan worked with the successful back-to-back All-Ireland SFC winning Meath ladies side under Eamonn Murray before joining O’Rourke’s coaching team ahead of the 2023 campaign.

O’Rourke’s first season in charge of the Royals would end on a high as his team defeated Down by five points in last month’s Tailteann Cup final to cement their Sam Maguire Cup status for 2024.

A statement released by Meath county board this evening (Saturday) confirmed that neither Eivers and Garrigan would be part of the team’s set-up next season, with the latter staying on as the county’s Head of the Football Academy.

“Coiste na Mí C.L.G. can confirm that Strength & Conditioning Coach Eugene Eivers & Football Coach Paul Garrigan will not be part of the Senior Football coaching team in 2024,” it read.

“Senior Football manager Colm O’Rourke has thanked both coaches for their work throughout the 2023 season which culminated in the Tailteann Cup success and wished them all the best in their future endeavours.

“Paul Garrigan will remain in his role as Academy Head Coach.”
