Clare GAA have ordered a replay to be played in the county’s intermediate football championship quarter-final between Shannon Gaels and Kildysart after it ended in controversy.
The game last Sunday week saw Kildysart winning in a penalty shootout after the sides were drawn at 0-13 apiece after extra time.
However, after an objection was launched, it was found that the winners had used six substitutes in the added periods, which is three more than permitted, and two of those would go on to take penalties in the shootout.
Kildysart had already been pitted against O’Curry’s in the semi-finals, but it has since been confirmed that they will now replay their quarter-final against Shannon Gaels to determine which team progresses to the last four.
