Roscommon GAA has been granted planning permission to develop the Dermot Earley Centre of Excellence near Roscommon Racecourse.

The long-awaited project, which will honour the memory of the late, great Dermot Earley, will include three full-size floodlit grass pitches, two new astroturf pitches, warm up areas and a stand for spectators at the side of one of the pitches. It will also incorporate a ball wall area, walking track and pavilion.

Welcoming the news, Roscommon GAA chairman Brian Carroll said: “I wish to thank Roscommon County Council for their guidance and information and the elected representatives of the Roscommon Municipal District for their support for the project.

"Finally, I would like to thank everyone involved within Roscommon GAA for their work and commitment in bringing the project to this stage.

"This is a mighty day for our county and is the start of an exciting chapter for Roscommon GAA.”
