John McGrath’s free in the eighth minute of injury-time saw Tipperary earn a 0-25 to 0-25 draw against Limerick in a thrilling Munster senior hurling championship encounter in Thurles.

The results today see Brian Lohan's Clare side advance towards next month's provincial final.

Liam Cahill’s men had been the better team in the first-half as their 0-15 to 0-12 lead at the interval reflected and their opponents put forth a response right at the start of the second-half that saw them sailing over four answered points to steam into the lead.

It stayed nip and tuck from there until the finish, with Conor Bowe’s point edging the hosts ahead by two with five minutes remaining but the All-Ireland champions got it level with a Graeme Mulcahy point off the bench and Diarmaid Byrnes free.

Seamus Callanan nudged Tipp back in front in injury-time but the Shannonsiders were the ones that looked to have won it when Byrnes’ leveller was backed by Mulcahy rifling over his second.

However, the home side got one last chance in the dying seconds which the experienced McGrath was able to convert under pressure.
