Doran double sees Na Fianna overcome St Jude's in Dublin SFC

August 20, 2022

Na Fianna's James Doran and Dan Deneher of St Sylvesters

James Doran struck a brace of goals as Na Fianna picked up their second win in the Dublin senior championship last night at the expense of St Jude’s.

It finished 2-8 to 0-9 at Parnell Park, where the sides were all square on 0-3 at the interval before Doran’s strike five minutes into the restart provided some daylight for Na Fianna.

County midfielder Tom Lahiff and Niall Coakley pulled back points for St Jude’s but after a fine score from Pat Spillane last year’s beaten finalists would be exposed at the back again.

Doran punished a fly ‘keeper move from the opposition with four minutes remaining as Na Fianna won out by five in the end.

In St Margaret’s, Skerries Harps hit the net four times but still went down in a 2-17 to 4-19 defeat to Thomas Davis, while Kevin O’Gara’s free from 45 metres out in the fifth minute of injury-time rescued a 3-7 to 1-13 draw for Templeogue Synge St against Raheny in Group 1.

See below for the Dublin SFC fixtures taking place today (Saturday) at Parnell Park, O’Toole Park and Ballygriffin.
