Dublin attacker Cormac Costello says team mate Con O’Callaghan leads by example on the field and believes his position as vice-captain for the capital men is well deserved.

O’Callaghan scored 1-6 against Wexford last Saturday in what was his first outing for the Dubs in 2022 and, speaking to Sky Sports GAA, Costello says it’s nice to have a different mix when it comes to the team’s leadership.

"Con has always been a leader," he stated. "He's always been a leader on the field with his actions, he's such a big player for us.

"James McCarthy is the captain and Con is vice - the two of them are leaders but different leaders.

"They're from different generations I suppose, and James won't thank me for that but it is nice to have that different mix. Con has really stepped up, he leads by example, week in week out. So yeah, well deserved."
