Former Cork goalkeeper Aoife Murray reckons that this weekend’s All-Ireland senior camogie championship semi-finals would be better served if they were held at a smaller venue than Semple Stadium.

The Thurles venue is set to host the meeting of Galway and Kilkenny at 4pm on Saturday before Cork take on Tipperary at 6pm, with both games being shown live on RTE.

Speaking to Marie Crowe on RTÉ Radio 1's Inside Sport, nine-time All-Ireland winner Murray feels tha the famous ground might be too large for the number of supporters that are expected to attend the games.

"I'm looking at even the choice of Semple Stadium. The Camogie Association are coming out saying they hope for a record crowd, which is in around 10,000 people, whether you're Tipperary, Cork, Galway or Kilkenny in a stadium of 45,000 capacity I think," she said.

"Having 10,000 people in there isn't going to create much of an atmosphere and you mightn't necessarily get a huge bump from the crowd because they're going to be so spread out and far away from you.

"So I don't know if Thurles is going to be the X Factor for Tipperary on Saturday, to be honest with you. I'd love if Camogie took it to a lot smaller ground and actually create a huge atmosphere."
