Kilcormac-Killoughey landed their third Offaly senior hurling championship title in-a-row after holding off Shinrone’s late comeback in Tullamore this afternoon.

It finished 1-24 to 2-14 at Glenisk O’Connor Park, where Charlie Mitchell’s goal in injury-time killed off Shinrone in the end and put a seal on Kilcormac-Killoughey’s seventh county SHC success.

The defending champions had dominated large portions of the opening half, with Adam Screeney, Colin Spain, Mitchell and Damien Kilmartin among their scorers as they went in at the break leading by 0-17 to 0-7.

Eoin Bailey O'Brien’s goal six minutes into the restart was exactly what Shinrone were looking for after the change of ends, and they’d halve their half-time deficit before Sean Cleary’s goal on 50 minutes really brought this decider to life.

Ciaran Cleary’s score three minutes later made it a one-point game ahead of Mitchell and Screeney grabbing vital points for K/K and then Mitchell delivering the hammer blow in the 61st minute (watch below) to secure his club’s three-in-a-row triumph in the Faithful County.
