Vikki Wall has returned to the Meath ladies football squad after missing out on selection for the Ireland Women’s Sevens Rugby squad for this summer’s Olympic Games.
The two-time Brendan Martin Cup winner signed a contract with the IRFU last September in a bid to make it to Paris and was subsequently included in several Sevens squads. However, Wall – who has also tried her hand at Aussie Rules – didn’t do enough to get into Allan Temple-Jones’ squad.
The Dunboyne player’s return couldn’t be more timely for Meath who are preparing for an All-Ireland quarter-final against Kerry in Tralee on Saturday evening. Ironically, Wall’s last appearance for the Royals came in the corresponding fixture last year which brought an end to their two-year reign as All-Ireland champions.
