Jason McGee’s injury-time point denied Galway and salvaged a 1-9 to 1-9 draw for Donegal in Letterkenny this afternoon.
The result lifts Donegal off the foot of the Allianz Football League Division 1 table as they leapfrog neighbours Tyrone whom lost in Castlebar last night.
Oisin Gallen’s penalty gave the hosts a 1-5 to 0-3 lead after 26 minutes but Galway hit back immediately with a goal of their own from the in-form Matthew Tierney.
Paddy Carr’s men saw their 1-6 to 1-3 interval lead slip away after the turnaround as points from Rob Finnerty, Paul Conroy and Tierney sailed over their crossbar.
Donegal would hit back to level ahead Finnerty nudging the Connacht champions back in front with a minute to go and, after breaking through a cluster of marron jerseys, McGee sailed over this precious equaliser (see below).
