Liam MacCarthy Cup holders Limerick and Galway clashed at Croke Park for the right to face Kilkenny in this year's All-Ireland SHC final.

Bidding for three All-Irelands in a row - and a fourth in five years - John Kiely's men went into the game as Munster champions, having come through their provincial campaign unbeaten, defeating Clare in the final after extra time.

The Tribesmen, who topped the group in Leinster on the back of four victories and a draw, had lost their provincial final to the Cats but recovered with a battling All-Ireland quarter-final defeat of Cork. An epic contest ensued.

As an added bonus, we also covered today's massive All-Ireland minor hurling championship final meeting of Tipperary and Offaly - a match which produced a stunning denouement at Nowlan Park.
