Brian Hayes and Ed Myers combined for 2-10 as Cork defeated Tipperary by 13 points last night to advance to the Munster minor football championship final against Kerry.

It finished 3-20 to 1-13 at Semple Stadium, where the Rebels were convincing in getting their provincial championship campaign back on track after having lost their opener to Kerry by 14 points last Wednesday.

Despite Tipp having emerged from the Phase 1 series, it was the visitors that made a rip-roaring start that saw them into an unassailable 2-9 to 0-1 lead by the 20-minute mark.

Hayes and Alan O’Connell supplied the goals that sent the Leesiders towards a 10-point lead at the break and, while Charlie English pulled back a goal for Tipp in the second-half, it was game, set and match when Myers crashed in the visitors’ third major.

Cork now face Kerry again on Wednesday week, June 1st, this time with the Munster title on the line and the game is set to be staged at a Cork venue.
