Anything other than a win for The Downs would be a shock, Westmeath club football is miles ahead of Longford club football.

I definitely agree with this, Westmeath Club and County football is unbelievably far ahead of Longford. If The Downs fail to win this game it will be classed as an absolute disaster. They've made it clear in interviews they're looking to right the wrongs of last year against Tullamore. I can see The Downs getting to the final but I think Cuala are ahead of everyone in Leinster by a bit of a margin.

Agreed. Clonguish will do well to get within 8 points

I see Will Scahill amongst other young players are in on the fundraiser too. Does this mean that any of the younger or new lads to the panel that weren't involved with the Leinster winning team get to go on the holiday too?

My point more was that they could beat any of those other teams mentioned on their day and that Shandonagh aren't ahead of the others as the other poster said. It's only two years ago Multy beat Tubberclair in a quarter final and look how they have gone. In Wallace they have probably the best all round footballer in the county. Thornton is one of the best prospects in the county and appears to be getting in with the senior county team over the winter. If they could get momentum from section b next year they wouldn't fear too many in the knockout stages

Possibly, albeit a very different Tubberclair team with the integration of a strong crop of minors and also the return of several key players while Multy largely remained the same from that time. Any updates on the structure for next year? Presumably a return to the previous format will happen. DelaneyCup2026 (Westmeath) - Posts: 84 - 28/10/2026 19:22:03 2698780 Link 0 |

If The Downs don't beat Clonguish by at least 15 points, they may pack it in. Clonguish have at least 11 players under 21, none of their squad have ever won a senior championship until this year. At home as well which is a huge advantage. A lot spoken about this Clonguish team, but in my opinion very over rated. The Downs to win 4-17 to 0-12. A great chance for The Downs to make a final surely, I would expect them to get by Clonguish comfortably and then there is a pretty good chance to make a Leinster final from there

The downs are not a bad team but the won't take Clonguish for granted they are county champions. They're a young team. They will throw everything at the downs and it's up to the downs to respond one game at a time for the downs

Congrats to Ronan Wallace great captain and leader led by example all year. Was always going to be a toss up between him and Wittaker to get one but isnt that a great complaint to have that nobody would of forseen this time 12 months ago. Well done to Ronan Wallace, great achievement! Great to see such a spread of counties getting awards, with counties playing more games than ever its about time the focus moved away from the 2 finalists martyW (Westmeath) - Posts: 376 - 29/10/2026 09:21:04 2698821 Link 0 |

Is Longford club football that bad? We are coming into November and for a team to be winning a game by at least 15 points at this time of year the opposition would have to be exceptionally bad. Are you saying Clonguish are that bad? I do think The Downs will win relatively comfortably but I would be thinking more so 6-8 points. Something tells me you're a Clonguish man trying to stir things though.

The Downs have a lot of injuries and I'm sure they will not underestimate Clonguish..

Judging by the other wing back winner we are unlucky not to have two. Congratulations to Wallace and his club Multyfarnham. DelaneyCup2026 (Westmeath) - Posts: 84 - 29/10/2026 10:53:56 2698839 Link 0 |
