Serious buzz around the north Monaghan area this weekend. Truagh with a serious belief (maybe over confidence) of toppling the neighbours. Monaghanmad123 (Monaghan) - Posts: 80 - 17/10/2026 11:23:19 2697613 Link 0 |

I think we will see the flaw of group stages in the Monaghan Championship today. Scotstown to run rampant, 8-10 point win. MonaghanMan44life (Monaghan) - Posts: 303 - 18/10/2026 10:05:00 2697709 Link 0 |

It bodes well for the county team when you see how close inniskeen came to scotstown in recent times, truagh looked like an average intermiedate team today. Mc Entee had them close. Is mick duffy getting a spin to connollys? 222 (UK) - Posts: 978 - 18/10/2026 17:00:54 2697754 Link 0 |

Great result for Aughnamullen minors against a usually very good Donaghmoyne team Eddie the Exile (Monaghan) - Posts: 1394 - 18/10/2026 17:43:34 2697763 Link 0 |

Lads ye were right dodgy box let me down but had a feeling this was one to listen to on the radio not give clubber €20 for. Sounded like a training session for Scotstown especially the second half. seanie08 (Monaghan) - Posts: 2042 - 18/10/2026 18:51:49 2697779 Link 0 |

focus of the junior appeal with DRA weighed heavily on the seniors preparation

Have we got the most uncompetitive championship in Ireland? Was in Clones today and the amount of neutrals leaving with 15 minutes to go was noticeable. Truagh supporters there hoping for a miracle. Terrible stuff when you see the scenes in other championships around the country. Monaghansclown (Monaghan) - Posts: 206 - 18/10/2026 22:42:36 2697817 Link 3 |

For the best part of 30 years that's the way it was in armagh with cross and armagh won 2 all irelands in that time no excuse Scotstown are top of the heap in monaghan and that's it

Unfrotunately Truagh were not at the level to get close, there is no shame in it, Scotstown are operating at a different level. The control they had for the third quarter completely killed it as a contest. Inniskeen are the only team to have got close in the last few years, took them to extra time in last year's final. I think yesterday's result shows the next 2 or 3 years will be a similar story, they will have to regress a bit to be caught as dont think any of the current clubs can jump to that level. They will be confident heading into Ulster now and no distractions of McCague heading off to manage Monaghan. Also to mention that despite all their success, hunger never seems to be an issue, they are happy to keep piling the county medals and dont seem to be complacent. sporto (Monaghan) - Posts: 216 - 19/10/2026 12:05:49 2697857 Link 0 |

Realistically who can topple the blues in years to come? Possibly blayney maybe clontibret after that it's slim pickings. 222 (UK) - Posts: 978 - 19/10/2026 12:11:56 2697859 Link 0 |

Scotstown won that title in the semi final. In 21 Truagh got to the county final by beating 2 good teams in Ballybay and Clontibret, this year there are no good teams outside of Scotstown and Inniskeen so got there by default, they could just as easily have been relegated this year. Complete snore fest yesterday… not taking away from Scotstowns remarkable achievement but most definitely It's the most uncompetitive football championship in the country by a country mile and won't change anytime soon…if anything the gap will get wider imo… even noticeable that a lot of Scotstown supporters didn't wait for the trophy presentation and headed off…
