Intermediate Semi Finals surely double header Saturday 17th October in Loughrea
Mullagh v Skehana Mountbellew Moylogh
Kilconeiron v Meelick-Eyrecourt
This screams out Mullagh v Kilconeiron Co. Final.

Senior Semi Finals surely double header Sunday 18th October in Athenry
Clarinbridge v Tommy Larkins
Loughrea v Craughwell
Definitely Clarinbridge v Loughrea Co. Final.

Skbellew to pip Mullagh in the intermediate.
Good hurlers all over the pitch.
The work they've done over the last 10ish years in underage coming to fruition. Remarkable to be fair to them.

Its all well and good having good underage players but they have kept hold of them and have a nice age blend at this point.

Not to be negative, but should they now be two seperate clubs? The idea of an amalgamation is to field teams and develop. They've done that in spades and are now a force at intermediate level. Or is that amalgamation there to stay?

Are Skbellew really that good I wonder.... Kilconeiron, Mullagh and Skellow all qualified from the same group with Skellow getting late goals to pip both Kilconeiron and Mullagh by 1pt in the group games where Kilconeiron and Mullagh were very much wasteful and complacent.
Kilconeiron and Mullagh are different animals now and vastly improved since the start of Knockout phase?
I'd expect Kilconeiron to beat Meelick-Eyrecourt and Mullagh to set the record straight with bells on v Skehana Mountbellew Moylogh....in fact I think Skellow could get a terrible clattering! Traditionalists v Fairytale

DE-malgamation is actually a very interesting topic imo! Is there examples of it happening? In theory why should SMM seperate out, if they keep progressing why not aim for the senior all ireland some day? If Woodford and Ballinakill could both field intermediate teams, would Tommy Larkins be redundant? or if the could both field Junior teams? I'm not saying there's a right or wrong answer. Club GAA is very cyclical, Kiltormer have their all ireland and if for example they were to merge with someone, they are giving up their chance of every replicating that, even if its 100 years down the line*

Kilbeacanty and Beagh is the hot one for amalgamation talk at the moment. strong chance both are Junior next year, and underage have had savage success. But if both were strong intermediate clubs (which is a possibility in the medium term), would that serve the parishes and Galway hurling better than if Michael cusacks were in a senior final? I doubt anyone in either parish would care if they were supporting Michael Cusacks in the All ireland against Ballyhale.

Anyway, I don't have a strong opinion either way, I just find it fascinating. maybe Clarinbridge and Loughrea should merge so Loughrea lads can finally make the county team :P

*I think this may be one of the biggest advantages long term of the restructuring. In premier junior, even finishing last in your group, you know where you are in the pyramid. Less chance of getting games called off agaisnt a big clubs 3rd team etc and more certainty of fixtures and when you have to field, if you are under pressure to do so.

You've answered your own question there. They've already beaten the two teams you've picked to make the final, so they're obviously good for intermediate this year.
Their tradition is an improving club, both underage and at adult level. Intermediate form lines can mean very little at times though.

It was a strange Intermediate Championship so far...I would have had my top 10 in no particular order...Tynagh Abbey-Duniry, Ahasragh-Fohenagh, Ballindeeren, Kilconeiron, Meelick-Eyrecourt, Kilnadeema-Leitrim, Mullagh, Kinvara, Carnmore and Portumna
Then the rubbish Beagh, Pearses, Rahoon-Newcastle, Skehana Mountbellew Moylogh, Killimor and Ballygar!
Still expecting the "Premier Junior " to be a yo yo Championship whoever gets relegated from Intermediate bounces straight back up the following year!
Already looking like Abbeyknockmoy are dancing that tune and look to be clear favourites by a nose to win!!

Nothing strange about it. Anyone following recent years would have seen SMM as a real threat at Intermediate. Bearing in mind that we have a proper senior now of 16 teams, it shows the improvement SMM have made, that they're close to reaching it.
Sylane have looked much more impressive than Abbey in Junior so far. That's not to say they'll win it, but they've performed much better to date.
Your rankings seem about 20 years out of date in some cases.

With regards to Kilconeiron and Mullagh in Intermediate and Abbeyknockmoy in Junior, its like cycling a bike uphill against the wind for the group stages....slow and steady, but then for cycling downhill with the wind for the knockout stages they have the momentum and are clicking into gear at full pace.
SMM and Meelick-Eyrecourt and also Sylane seem to go full throttle uphill for the group games and now the chain will come flying off!!

Mullagh are improving from the group stage games but I'd be surprised if they can hold that Skehana Mountbellew Moylough forward line at all. The two Lohans, McDonagh and Roche on paper should be way too strong up front at intermediate level. They've all played for Galway at underage or senior level.
