Despite many including myself on this forum looking for kevin o brien to become manager the rift as you say seems extensive and also a rift brewing with conaty in u20 as they've taken a coach that he had originally brought in from what i hear in collinstown.

Wexford hurlers at their lowest ebb in the county's illustrious history. Hope he has more success with our hurlers.

I heard they were sharing him which would make sense from a tactical point of view. The manager and his team and indeed the 20s management need to hit the ground running.

Good win for Turin yesterday, are they good enough to win it out now??. They won't want to lose 2 finals in a row. Bigjoe1 (Westmeath) - Posts: 100 - 04/10/2026 13:36:41 2696096 Link 0 |

Turin did very well but need to win the final now against a Raharney who will be going for the double. The blues far too good for a Castletown in decline. No Aonghus Clarke and Niall O Brien a shadow of his old self and it looks like David O Reilly will need a lot of hurling to be the man he was. Varley, Murphy, Lynch have a lot of miles on the clock. The senior B semi final was more entertaining and Plunketts can put it up to Pollard.Brownstown have improved but just lacked a killer touch.Plunketts have a balanced, physically powerful team so hopefully four great finals in two weeks as the Clonkill v Clann Na Gael under 16 match should be a thriller as well but why o why has it been taken out of Raharney. No disrespect to Robinstown but its not nearly as good a pitch. jobber (Westmeath) - Posts: 2034 - 04/10/2026 17:45:00 2696128 Link 0 |

Raharney will blow them away with how they performed today. Best performance I've seen from any team inside this county in years

Interesting to see Conor mckeogh not start for Raharney even though he was starting for Westmeath at times this year. He would make every team in the county and is one of the top corner backs in the county. Something not right there Kevfarlo (Westmeath) - Posts: 3 - 04/10/2026 21:00:19 2696153 Link 0 |

They cpuld but ctg wete also poor. Obruen xarrying injury couldnt shrugg off. That said raharney were strobg well coached but best performance imn years in the county in years a bit of recency bias

That's a bit of a stretch! It shows what was wrong with Westmeath rather!

Raharney must be disciplined for final. Sometimes they are their own worst enemy. Weakness is their keeper, LLG will target early on and have the players to do damage.

They beat a clearly flat Castletown side that by the end had no Aonghus, Naoise, Niall, Johnny B and Shane C on the pitch and with David O' Reilly clearly rusty, by only 4 points, not sure the Gaels will be unduly worried

In fairness raharney are big physically or played liked it. Wrll deserved win and in fairness to Johnny is very credible. As for ctg hard to know where to next. A bit of a refresh anyway Gaaforlife2023 (Longford) - Posts: 1379 - 05/10/2026 00:03:05 2696178 Link 0 |

I thought it a poor game. Raharney were very good but Castletown a shadow of their old selves. Best performance in years a silly statement.Raharney will be marginal favourites but i cant see them blowing away the Gaels, looking forward to a good match.

It probably was their best performance since beating the gaels in the group stages in 23 but their form since has been poor. CasKD (Westmeath) - Posts: 61 - 05/10/2026 10:13:31 2696205 Link 0 |

Agree with this, the Gaels wont be too worried and will be well rested and probably completely injury free come the final

There's reason why 3 in a row is rarely done. Probably lacking that little bit of hunger that raharney and the gaels have. O Reilly playing just his third game will be better next year, Niall o Brien carrying an injury probably shouldn't have been playing at all and McKenna a big loss in defence. I'm sure they will be more of a threat next year

3 in a row is very hard to do. Been a tough few weeks for the CTG community, no doubt a factor this weekend as well martyW (Westmeath) - Posts: 371 - 05/10/2026 12:22:04 2696247 Link 1 |

CTG very poor on Sunday. Too many of their top players either injured of just back from injury. Raharney were ok but only ok. They deserved to win but got a fair few easy frees imo. Had CTG got their goal ten minutes earlier they may well have won but Raharney deserved their win.
