And while Mayo improved a lot from that first game, that was still 1-10 (was it 1-06 from play?) against the eventual All Ireland champs. 8th top scorer in the championship despite most of the other players going on to play at least one extra match if not more. 4-30 in league and 1-31 in championship is some going. Not having a go at Kobe McDonald but I don't think he did enough for All Star or would not have him ahead of Darragh Beirne for YPOTY either. Absolutely unreal first season for him at his age and I've no doubt if he wasn't heading to Oz he probably would improve further next year and sweep up an All Star but the media noise distorts the reality a bit. Clifford and ROD are nailed on. I think those voting will probably lean towards Beirne, Con and or even Dylan Geaney ahead of Diarmuid. Just unfortunate for him we didn't get even one more round further on.

He deserves 1 hopefully soon and was a shoe in up to the Tyrone and Monaghan games.
But let's be honest your not getting one if your team can't even make the last 12 in effectively a 16 team competition although wouldn't shock me if Westmeath get one.

Agreed outstanding year and Diarmuid should be a strong contender to win All Star.
And before anyone comes on here as says Roscommon didn't reach the Quarter final so don't deserve one well Louths Sam Mulroy won one last year and were out before the Quarter-final stage.
Our last All star winner Enda Smith was won without Roscommon reaching the last 8 either.

2nd year in a row the forwards nominations isnt overly strong and as said already Sam Mulroy won one last year for basically his county winning a provincial title against the odds and I would expect Westmeath to win one this year for the same reason
