That was a huge win for Pearses considering the group they're in and the injuries. It's looking a bit ominous for Gaels now, Boyle and Clann to come.
Great to see Ben back in great form, the break from County served him well and playing league was huge benefit. Hopefully that continues. He would be a great addition to the full forward line next year. Hopefully Shane Cunnanes injury not too bad either.
Big score for Oran, their starts are never the problem. It's can they carry that through into later games.
Replying To letsgetgoing: "A couple of recent posts would tend to indicate that Roscommon are not ambitious enough. However Roscommon are one of the most ambitious GAA counties in Ireland. Look at the team Mark Dowd assembled last year. Jason Sherlock was a coach to probably the best team of all time and no doubt learned a huge amount from Jim Galvin, Pat Gilroy etc over the years. Mickey Comerford our S&C coach was head of sports performance with the Kilkenny hurling team when they won several All Irelands. Diarmuid Murtagh, Enda Smith etc sincerely believe that they will win a senior All Ireland with Roscommon. However we have to be realistic also. Roscommon were 150/1 at the start of the year to win an All Ireland, they are down to 20/1 for next year which shows a vast improvement and shows we have a chance if we perform.
Serious ambition can also be seen at county board level: * Major fund raising over the years by Club Rossie. * Comprehensive development of Hyde Park. * Site selected and major funding achieved for the Centre of Excellence.
Our ambitions have also being fully/partially achieved on the football pitch. * Senior/ Under 20/Minor Connacht champions * Ladies teams appearing in three All Ireland Finals.
We have to get the balance right. It has been a great year for Roscommon GAA teams. Hopefully it will continue in Croke Park tomorrow and next year.
Watched the Brigid's game on clubber yesterday and great to see Ben O Carroll, Conor Hand, and Darragh Heneghan in form. Niall Heneghan (last year under 20) was impressive at midfield and could be a serious option for the seniors this year. Hopefully a few more of the under 20 team will also step up and give Mark O'Dowd food for thought."
I agree with a lot of that and I think the current management team are very ambitious, as you say reflected in the backroom team they've put together, I believe they want to drive us on to another level. i think there has been a lack of it in the past or at least a serious lack of confidence in taking on good teams outside the province along with a serious issue anytime we are made favourites. We've been producing very good players from underage for nearly all of the noughties and it's such a shame the likes of Ciaran Murtagh, Donie Smith, Cathal Cregg never experienced a knock out win in Croke Park. Absolutely those lads had ambitions, can't remember which ex player said in a podcast that there were others in the panels that were just happy to say they were playing county.
Hopefully the ladies put in a serious performance now.

Brilliant stuff by the girls controlled that final from start to finish. The talent and skill on display was superb. Should be great celebrations tonight and looking forward to see them in senior action in 2027.
Replying To Rossieforever: "Congratulations to the ladies. Showing how it should be doe. There won't be a child fed in Roscommon for the rest of the week"
Great performance from the Ladies. Never let Fermanagh in to the game.
Congratulations to the intermediate ladies on their All Ireland win. Fantastic first half performance. Second All Ireland for the Roscommon ladies in three weeks. Well done to all involved : players, management team, clubs, families etc.
