I have to say I find it slightly amusing that we have some well known ex inter County players with their knickers in a twist about GAA+ Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 10325 - 09/05/2026 12:28:12 2671763 Link 1 |

Lockjaw, I think a lot of those comments are clickbait. They'll find some perceived grievance to raise their 'profile'. 40 years ago there were just 3 intercounty hurling and 3 intercounty football matches live on national television. Time and technology lets us watch loads of live club and intercounty games, some underage games too. But what some will, to get a reaction, is focus on what's not available, or it's the wrong time, or there isn't enough time in between games to have the shpuds. Plus they give the impression that all the tech to stream games is free, the crew work for free ,every game should be free to air and they have magic cameras that prevent rain getting onto the lens.

Think everyone knows that all matches can't be shown but it's the choice of matches.none of the Munster hurling next week are free to air..Waterford will have played 4 matches ,1 was free to air..killkenny/Offaly not covered by anyone.. Exactly. We whinge and moan all day about stuff in general. Yet come the next general election it'll be another FF/FG coalition. The priest who loves saying another mass in Father Ted springs to mind. Back to the GAA+ "issue". I would bet that a sizable amount of people will be watching the Kerry Donegal game no bother, and without a subscription fee. Funny how we can play fast and loose with morals when it suits. I've watched very little MHC in the past 2 years. There's just too much stuff on all at once. I don't know how patrons catch 10-15% of whats on together these weekends. I can remember the 1990 and 1991 Munster Finals, and I couldn't tell you what happened in the great Munster Championship 2or3 years ago. The latter end of these allireland Championships are more digestible alright, when we're back to 2or3 games per weekend.
