Ah now, in fairness.

I'm not about to try defend countyman2022 and I think myself some of his earlier comments were probably OTT. But it's a bit rich for somebody from a county that puts so little into one code and operates at such a low level in it to be telling somewhere like Wexford GAA that they should get their own house in order.

World beaters'? No one said that. Louth fans are reacting to being called overrated by counties who didn't even last as long in the championship. Louth aren't pretending to be world beaters - they're just a county on the rise. Three Leinster finals in four years isn't a fluke, and with the way the province looks now, they're absolutely strong contenders to win Leinster again. That's not hype, that's just where the results have put them. And talking about results outside Leinster doesn't change the fact that this year, on the pitch, Louth beat Wexford at ease. That's not hype - that's just the scoreboard. #PipeDown

On the rise? For such a strong team who are apparently on the rise- next year is their 5th consecutive season in Div 2. Wouldn't seem extremely ascending. If any use would have made the step to Div 1 by now. Talk like they are Kerry, although I guess when they hype themselves up so much they would do that.

I said I wasn't about to try defend you :)

Bit churlish to try deny that Louth are on the rise. Even if you just confine it to League standings, like you seem to want to do:
In both 2024 and '25, they finished sixth in Division 2. This year, they went into the last round of games with a chance of promotion. Is that not an improvement - i.e. on the rise?

Or in championship - they've gone from being in only one Leinster Final in more than 60 years, to being in the last three finals in a row. Is that not an improvement too - i.e. also on the rise?

Or think about ourselves here. Clearly on something of a rise now (despite last Sunday's result!) after two successive League promotions. But think about the League in the few years before that:
2022 - finished 6th in Division 4. Only won two matches.
2023 - Moved up to 4th place. Finished two points off promotion.
2024 - Finished in 3rd place. Missed promotion only on the head-to-head result with Leitrim after they beat us with a highly controversial last-minute penalty.

I'd contend that we were already on the rise during those few years. But based on how you view Louth, your take on it would be - "Huh. In Division 4 for the three years. If any use, would have made the step up quicker."

Louth have been doing alot of things right over recent years, starting with increasing the number of GPOs/GDAs going around the schools, and working up from there.
Good results on the pitch have naturally followed.

Even your own county man has explained it better than I could - the idea that Louth 'aren't on the rise' just doesn't hold up. League progress, three Leinster finals in a row, and consistently competing at the top end of Division 2 is exactly what a county on the rise looks like.

You can try frame it however you want, but the results don't back your argument. And when people from your own county are pointing that out, it says enough.

Ah now, don't give him ammunition to fire back at you.

Two years of finishing 6th in Division 2 - only avoiding relegation by one point the first year, and on a head-to-head result in the second year - isn't "consistently competing at the top end of Division 2". He'll come back and say you're talking yourselves up again!

But in fairness - going from that to being on the verge this year of promotion to Division 1 is still definitely being on the rise.

Any sign of your hurlers rising as well?? ;)

If we can win the Cordon cup, u20 football, tonight, does the competition end there ( in Leinster) or is there any follow-on competition ?

I find it hard to see how a team in the same division for what will be 5 years next year is seen as still rising. Think they have reached their peak - their All Ireland series results over the last 4 years would show this. They have won only 2 out of 12 games, one of which was against Clare. As I said, they are a good Leinster team and fair play to them. But I dont think it extends past this.
I would say Wexford rise/improvement came from 2024 on? Could say 2023 of course. Been a constant improvement every year and no stagnent years? Including further progression in Tailteann each year abd winning games outside of leauge/provincial games.

Fair point Pikeman96...god knows what he is liable to come back and say next! With a bit of luch nothing!...I don't follow the hurling been honest Pikeman96...Gaelic football and soccer are the cream of the crop around these parts ;)..hope Wexford do well in the Tailteann Cup!
